CLASSIC PARTY RENTALS LEADS MASSIVE TRANSFORMATIONS AT MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA

Classic Tents – A Member of Classic Party Rentals’ Nationwide Network – Races to the Finish! Works ‘Round-the-Clock to Perfect Multiple Events

MONTEREY, Calif. – Race fans never knew what hit them. Over ten sun-splashed weeks during summer 2007, Classic Tents – a member of Classic Party Rentals’ nationwide network – partnered with officials at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, to transform the massive 550-acre recreation zone into three distinct, high-powered events, captivating over 250,000 guests from around the world.

Classic Tents, which specializes in providing unique, high-quality tents and rental accessories for a variety of first-class sporting events, coordinated the installation, management and removal of over 210 tents and semi-permanent structures, providing Laguna Seca officials with three turn-key event environments. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosted the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix from July 20-22, Christian Music Festival Spirit West Coast from August 1-4, and the 34th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races from August 17-19.

“We have such a unique facility,” said Ann Bixler, vice president of event operations for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “The raceway is actually a county park, and it can only host ten events per year – five hosted by our non-profit organization and five hosted by the county. This summer the county hosted its largest event of the year with Spirit West Coast and we hosted our largest race with the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. Classic Tents was integral to the success of each of these magnificent events.”

Classic Tents began installation for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix on June 15, exactly five weeks prior to the race. In that short span, Classic assembled massive temporary villages for vendors, hospitality, operations and race teams, totaling 160,000 square feet of tenting, each including flooring, carpeting, HVAC, and glass walls and doors. Because the Grand Prix featured a nearly exclusive lineup of international race teams, rules dictated that Laguna Seca provide comprehensive team offices, which threw the Classic effort into overdrive. Each of the 20 competing teams received a custom tent chalet headquarters, complete with French doors, HVAC, lighting and proprietary sound-proof walls.

During the three-day Grand Prix event, over 150,000 race fans poured into the facility, enjoying 130-decibel motorcycles and gorgeous blue skies. But while fans departed for home at the event’s conclusion, the Classic Tents team again went to work, with less than one week to strike the entire event.

On July 27, just five days after concluding the event, and just hours after completing tear-down of the facility, Classic began installation for Spirit West Coast, an annual Christian music festival which typically draws over 100,000 fans over three days. Classic assembled hundreds of structures in mere hours, including over 100 art, ministry, music and product exhibitor tents and “Circle 100,” a reserved seating and VIP reception area.

On August 5 – with Spirit West Coast in the rear-view mirror – Classic began striking the concert venue and preparing for the Monterey Historic Automobile Race, which would run from August 17-19. For this first-class VIP event, Classic also utilized its high-end furniture brand Designer8*.

“We were pleased to be able to install such a complex and large project in record time,” said Howard Tabackman, Classic Tents’ Vice President of Sales, and the director of Classic’s efforts at Laguna Seca. “That is what our customer required, and we found a way to make it happen. Race support has to move almost as fast as the racers.”
